Stefania London
Our Story
A Story That Began in Rome
Stefania’s story begins in Rome in 1958, with the opening of Hosteria Amedeo. More than a restaurant, it became the heart of the Reali family’s culinary life, where recipes were preserved, techniques were passed down and guests were welcomed with the generosity that defines Roman hospitality.
Across generations, the family kitchen became a place of learning. Traditional Roman dishes were prepared by instinct and experience, guided by honest ingredients, careful technique and a respect for simplicity.
This heritage remains at the heart of Stefania today.
The Woman Behind the Name
Stefania Cristofari
Stefania is named in honour of Chef Diego Reali’s mother and mentor, Stefania Cristofari.
A respected Roman chef, Stefania continued the family’s culinary traditions and taught Diego the recipes, principles and cooking techniques that shaped his career. Her influence reaches beyond individual dishes. It can be found in the warmth of the restaurant, the generosity of the food and the belief that every guest should feel genuinely welcomed.
Stefania London is both a continuation of that legacy and a tribute to the woman who helped inspire it.
Meet Executive Chef Diego Reali
A Third-Generation Roman Chef
Born and raised in Rome, Executive Chef Diego Reali grew up surrounded by the life of his family restaurant. He began by helping in the dining room before moving into the kitchen, where he learned traditional Roman cooking from his mother and grandmother.
Diego later carried that knowledge into kitchens across Europe and Asia, developing his craft while remaining closely connected to the flavours of his childhood.
His cooking is guided by three principles: protect tradition, respect technique and allow exceptional ingredients to speak for themselves. At Stefania, these principles shape everything from the handmade pasta to the meat and seafood dishes prepared in the kitchen.
From Rome to Kuala Lumpur to London
The first Stefania brought the Reali family’s Roman culinary heritage to Kuala Lumpur, introducing a new audience to the recipes, hospitality and traditions that shaped Diego’s upbringing.
Now, that story continues in London.
Located on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, Stefania London represents a new chapter for the restaurant. The setting may have changed, but its foundations remain the same: authentic Roman cooking, handmade pasta, carefully chosen ingredients and warm Italian hospitality.
It is a journey shaped by generations, from a family restaurant in Rome to tables shared across the world.
Roman Tradition at the Table
Our cooking is rooted in the belief that memorable Italian food does not need unnecessary complication. It begins with excellent ingredients, confident technique and recipes refined across generations.
The menu brings these principles together through handmade pasta, Roman-inspired dishes and carefully selected Italian wines. From gnocchi al tartufo and parmigiana to ossobuco and linguine all’aragosta, every plate reflects the history behind Stefania while belonging naturally at the table today.
